Our Guests are the Best!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of our guests who posted reviews on TripAdvisor and Booking.com. You are awesome! And it appears you think Fernando is pretty awesome as well. With reviews like these, he is soaring: From bear_15, Florida: “Perfect place to stay and relax…Should be in the top 10!” If looking for a very reasonably priced, great location, quiet and relaxing B&B look no further. Globetrotters B&B exceeded my husband’s and my expectations. Fernando and Donna (hosts) were extremely warm, hospitable, and genuine. They are very knowledgeable about the area and have can provide many recommendations regarding dining opportunities as well as sightseeing activities. The B&B itself had impeccable clean rooms – it felt as if you were in your own home, not a hotel. And of course, the breakfast without fail was exceptionally delicious and healthy (which can be a rare find). They are very accommodating and Fernando was able to incorporate my diet/food restrictions with no problems whatsoever. We looked forward to breakfast every day. We also enjoyed eating breakfast outside in the garden (weather permitting) – very relaxing and beautiful. A great way to start each day. We enjoyed our time and getting to know Donna and Fernando. We would highly recommend and most certainly stay here again. We stayed in the Crystal Palace – the room downstairs. Perfect sized room, very comfortable. The bathroom was also very nice and had a “spa” like touch to it.” From Tom E., Britain: “Gourmet Breakfast Booked whilst ‘on the road’ to secure a place convenient for the Falls based on a rudimentary search. Could not have been more pleased with the result. We spent two idyllic and restful nights in […]

An Explosion of Fall Attractions in Niagara-on-the-Lake

As August draws to a close, you may be wondering what there is to do in Niagara-on-the-Lake come fall. In fact, fall is a wonderful time to visit. The summer crowds have dispersed. The weather is ideal for cycling, walking or running along our numerous off-road paved trails. The Shaw Festival continues on through October. Farmers’ markets sprout up throughout the region. Food and wine festivals and winery tours at Peller Estates Winery, Trius Winery at Hillebrand, Ravine Winery and a multitude of others are in full swing. Restaurants, such as the Old Winery, the Stone Road Grille, The Cannery at the Pillar and Post Hotel and the delightful Ravine Winery Bistro, feature fresh local produce on their seasonally inspired menus. And by mid-September, fall colours begin to erupt along the Niagara Parkway and the Niagara Escarpment where golfers can find a number of championship courses to play. And of course there’s always time for a spa treatment, such as those offered at any of the three Vintage Hotel properties in town, Q124 on Queen Street and, my particular favourite, OSpa at the Oban Inn. Here are some dates to keep in mind when planning your fall getaway to Niagara-on-the-Lake: Bravo Niagara, September 5, from 8 to 11 p.m. at Chateau des Charmes Winery Set amidst the picturesque backdrop of this award-winning vineyard, enjoy the sounds of the Ehnes Quartet featuring nine-time Juno award-winning violinist James Ehnes, violinist Amy Schwartz Moretti, violist Richard O’Neill and cellist Robert deMaine. Polo Niagara, September 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Niagara Common Join The Toronto Polo Club for two four-chukker games plus a half-time show on the Commons. General admission is $10 per person. Tips on Booking a Hotel, Inn or B&B in Niagara-on-the-Lake

What matters to you when booking a hotel, inn or bed and breakfast online? I’ve travelled around the world and have stayed in a variety of lodgings, but nothing quite beats the bed and breakfast experience. Not only do hosts share their homes, but you engage in an interesting perspective of their lives, which also provides you with a better understanding of the people, the land and the culture. After all, travel is more about the people you meet than the places you travel. The Personal Touch B&B hosts are always willing to share lesser-known, often money-saving secrets of the town as well as stories you’ll never read in guidebooks. They’ll ensure you travel like a local and not a tourist. Think of them as your personal hotel concierge, without the heavy tips. Since you’ll be spending time with your hosts, make sure you strike a rapport with them before you finalize your booking. While listings share many of the details you might need to make your decision, touching base with your hosts adds a personal touch. Location, location, location While budget usually plays a huge role when making the right choice, you may not want to spend a lot of time commuting. So location is key. In cities, it is not always easy to find something within walking distance of the city centre, but it should offer easy access to a metro or underground station. Luckily, the village of Niagara-on-the-Lake covers an area of two square miles. So, as long as you choose a hotel, inn or B&B within the town limits (Anderson Lane to the south and Front Street to the north and Nassau Street to the west and the Niagara Parkway to […]

History was made on June 1, 2014, when the first evening cruise in Niagara Falls’ history shoved off from the dock at Hornblower Niagara Cruises. A whole new way to experience Niagara Falls For the first time in Niagara Falls’ 168-year history of tour boats voyaging to the base of the Horseshoe Falls, Hornblower Niagara Cruises now offers visitors to Niagara Falls the chance to experience the beauty of Niagara Falls during the illumination hours at night.
