Can’t make up your mind where to eat in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Here’s a unique solution for you and a couple of special events you might want to consider.
Niagara Culinary Tours is a relatively new company, which offers the unique experience of a walking food tour that incorporates a perfect blend of culture, food and history. Think of it as speed dating with restaurants during which you savour what Niagara’s locally-owned and operated eateries have to offer.
Each Niagara Culinary Tour visits several local restaurants where you will have a taste of Niagara cuisine and meet chefs, owners and friendly hospitality professionals. Along the way your guide will talk about the history of the area and point out cultural landmarks, as well as the farm-to-table, current food and wine trends and, of course, Niagara VQA wines. You will get a chance to eat, walk and embrace your inner foodie!
Tours run Friday to Sunday with a start time of 1:30 pm and are limited to 12 persons. Tickets are $55/person and include tour and food tastings at a minimum of five culinary partners. The walk is a flat three- to four-kilometre loop. Vegetarian options are available upon request.
On June 8 and October 5, 2014, Niagara Culinary Tours will host special events called “Foraging, Fabulous Food and Fine Wine”, along with culinary partners, Puck’s Plenty, Southbrook Vineyards and The Yellow Pear. These full-day events (from 1:30 to 7:30 pm) cost $125/person and include a 2 to 2.5-hour professionally guided foraging hike; a behind-the-scenes tour of Southbrook Vineyards, a LEED-certified, biodynamic winery; dinner created by The Yellow Pear at Southbrook Vineyards with accompanying wine pairings; and a take-away gift. Dinner-only tickets are also available.
Purchase all tickets online or call 289-690-8687.
