Well, it’s finally here! Daytime temperatures are reaching double-digit figures, the likes of which we haven’t seen since fall 2013. Time to shed the mitts, hats and scarves, put away the shovels and tend to the garden.

Fernando is thinking up new recipes with which to delight you. The tables are set up out under our outdoor breakfast pergola. Yes, I know it’s still a bit cool to eat out there, but we’re trying to encourage Spring to start blooming and Summer to make an early debut.

While I could go on for days about what’s coming down the pike here in Niagara-on-the-Lake, here are a few to get you planning your next getaway at Globetrotters Bed and Breakfast in Niagara-on-the-Lake:

The Shaw Festival has begun its new season, which includes Man and the Arms, Cabaret, The Philadelphia Story, The Philanderer, The Charity That Began at Home, The Sea, A Lovely Sunday for Creve Coeur, When we are Married, Juno and the Paycock and The Mountaintop.

You may have heard that the Maid of the Mist tour of Niagara Falls no longer operates out of the Ontario side. But fear not! Hornblower Niagara Cruises have arrived. Featuring a fleet of three custom-designed, state-of-the-art tour boats and a variety of tour options, Hornblower is breathing new life into this iconic Canadian sightseeing adventure. Hornblower’s two custom-designed 700-passenger catamarans offer the best views possible of the three waterfalls (the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and Horseshoe Falls) that make up “The Falls” and the greatest number of tour options ever offered, including The Voyage to The Falls with departures every 15 minutes; Sunset Cocktail Cruises; Falls Illumination Cruises; and Falls Fireworks Cruises.

Music Niagara is back for its 16th season this summer with a wonderful lineup of accomplished musicians from around the world. One performance that sells out every year is the Trinity College Cambridge Choir, which returns on July 15, 2014. So be sure to purchase your tickets ahead of time. Watch for the schedule online.

Paddlers will be happy to hear that Niagara Kayak Rentals has opened its doors in Niagara-on-the-Lake and offers peaceful paddles in the Lower Niagara River and Lake Ontario area. They’ll pick you up and outfit you so no need to pack your kayak or equipment.


Every year, Niagara’s Biggest Food Truck Event returns to Peller Estates in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Kick off your summer at the ultimate backyard bash and join them on May 16, 17 and 18 to experience three days of the most daring, delicious and innovative street food available alongside delicious wine and lively entertainment. Tickets are $15 per person plus taxes and fees.
